Trust in a sports information site comes down to one thing: can a reader rely on the data when planning a trip, setting a recording, or settling a debate? This page documents the exact sources VolleyTrack uses for every team, the process we follow to verify each data point, and the rules we will not break. If you spot something that contradicts what's published here, please tell us via our corrections page — we treat reader corrections as a priority.
Primary sources
- Official university athletic department websites — e.g. huskers.com, texassports.com, ukathletics.com, pittsburghpanthers.com. These are the system of record for every team's schedule, roster and coaching staff.
- NCAA.com Women's Volleyball — used for selection-week brackets, Tournament results and final-stat databases.
- American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) — the weekly Coaches Poll, postseason awards (Player of the Year, All-Americans) and the AVCA Top 25 archive.
- Conference media outlets — Big Ten Network, SEC Network, ACC Network, Big 12 Now (ESPN+) and Big East / FOX Sports for confirmed broadcast windows.
- Broadcaster schedules — ESPN, ESPN+, Peacock, FloVolleyball and FOX press releases for the canonical TV / streaming designation for each match.
How we build a team page
- We start with the school's official 2026 schedule release. Every date, opponent, time and venue is copied directly from the source.
- We cross-check the same matches on each opponent's official schedule, since home and road listings sometimes disagree on times for several days after release.
- We confirm the broadcaster against the network's published schedule. If a match is listed as "TBD," we leave it as TBD rather than guess.
- We add the venue, capacity and (where useful) the school's announced theme night, blackout or alumni weekend.
- A second member of the editorial team reviews the published page before it goes live.
Update cadence
- In-season (August–December): every team page is re-checked once per week, and again the morning of any match where the broadcaster or start time was previously TBD.
- NCAA Tournament: brackets, regional sites and Final Four matchups are updated within two hours of the NCAA bracket reveal and after each round.
- Off-season (January–July): roster, coaching staff and conference affiliation are reviewed after every announced hire, transfer-portal entry, or commitment change.
- Rankings: the AVCA Coaches Poll is mirrored within 24 hours of its Monday-afternoon release.
Rosters and coaching staff
Roster pages are rebuilt at the start of each season from the school's official roster release, then updated as schools announce transfers, redshirts and mid-season changes. We list jersey number, position, height, year and hometown for every player. Coaching staff entries — head coach, associate head coach and assistants — come from the same source and are verified against the school's written staff bio page.
Rankings methodology
We do not produce a proprietary ranking. Our rankings page is a presentation of the AVCA Coaches Poll with added context — week-over-week movement, points received and first-place votes. If we ever introduce a model-based ranking in the future, it will be clearly labelled as such and the methodology will live on this page.
Editorial standards
Every article on VolleyTrack is written and edited by a member of the team. Our full editorial policy covers sourcing, AI usage, conflicts of interest and how we handle paid placements (we don't accept any in exchange for editorial coverage). The short version: independence over reach, depth over breadth, and a willingness to leave a field blank rather than fill it with a guess.
What we don't do
- We don't aggregate data from unverified or fan-submitted sources.
- We don't publish recruiting rumors or unsourced reports.
- We don't use AI to generate schedules, rosters, rankings, scores or quotes.
- We don't accept payment in exchange for ranking, ordering or coverage.
- We don't publish a match time, network or venue unless the school or broadcaster has confirmed it.
Handling errors and corrections
Mistakes happen. When they do, we acknowledge them in public, fix them on the page and add a note at the bottom of the affected article. Schedules change frequently throughout the season — match times shift, venues swap, networks pick up windows late — so a discrepancy is not always our error, but we want to know. Email corrections@volleyballschedule.us or use the form on our corrections page.
Frequently asked questions
Are you affiliated with the NCAA or AVCA?
No. VolleyTrack is an independent fan resource. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the NCAA, the AVCA, any conference or any university.
Why do schedule times sometimes differ from what's on a school's site?
Either the school updated the time after our last sync (we re-verify weekly), or the school and broadcaster temporarily disagree before a final window is locked in. When in doubt, the school's official page wins. Please send a correction so we can catch up.
Do you use generative AI?
Editorial team members may use AI tools for grammar or structural suggestions on long-form articles, but every published sentence is reviewed and signed off by a human editor. AI is never used to generate scores, schedules, rosters, rankings or quotes. See our editorial policy.
