2026 Season Outlook
Stanford opens its third ACC season ranked No. 5 nationally and picked to win the league outright for the first time as a conference member, edging Pitt 280 points to 277 in the coaches poll. The Cardinal lost real production — Elia Rubin, setter Kami Miner, Elena Oglivie and Sami Francis are all gone — but what returns is unusually strong for a team in transition: All-American middle Lizzy Andrew, sophomore setter Logan Parks, who already ran the nation's seventh-most efficient offense as a freshman, and first-team All-ACC libero Spencer Etzler. Stanford led the ACC with five preseason all-conference picks.

Stanford owns nine NCAA national championships — more than any other program — in 1992, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2001, 2004, 2016, 2018 and 2019. In 2025 the Cardinal went 29-5 overall and 18-2 in ACC play to share the conference title with Pitt, the program's 25th conference championship and its first as an ACC member, before falling in the NCAA regional semifinal.
Head Coach Spotlight
Kevin Hambly enters his tenth season on The Farm at 228-47 (.829) with six conference titles and back-to-back national championships in 2018 and 2019. He was named both AVCA Pacific Region and ACC Coach of the Year in 2025, has coached 16 AVCA All-Americans to 32 awards at Stanford, and previously took Illinois to the 2011 national title match. He served as AVCA president from 2013 to 2015.
What to Watch in 2026
September is the schedule's teeth: Wisconsin and Kansas in Pittsburgh, Texas A&M in Kissimmee, Penn State at The Palestra on BTN and a road trip to Pitt's new Victory Heights Arena all come before October. The SLO Classic weekend — Arizona State, Santa Clara and Cal Poly in four days — is the depth test, and the Notre Dame–Louisville swing ends with a 10 a.m. Pacific start that is the hardest single ask on the calendar. The Nov. 24 Pitt rematch at Maples is the last chance for the home floor to matter in the ACC race.

The Stanford volleyball schedule 2026 runs 30 regular-season matches — 20 in ACC play, 10 non-conference — across the Cardinal's third season in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Stanford opens ranked No. 5 in the AVCA preseason poll and was picked to win the league outright by ACC coaches, the first time the program has topped the ACC preseason poll since joining the conference. That vote follows a 2025 season in which Stanford went 18-2 in league play to claim a share of the ACC title with Pitt — the program's 25th conference championship overall and its first as an ACC member — before falling in the NCAA regional semifinal. Season Expectations
Stanford is the preseason ACC favorite for the first time as a conference member, and the coaches' vote was close — 280 points and 10 first-place votes to Pitt's 277 and seven. These two teams shared the title at 18-2 last year and meet twice, and whoever wins the pair most likely wins the league. The Cardinal lost real production: Elia Rubin was an AVCA Player of the Year semifinalist and led the team in kills, digs and points per set through the postseason, and Stanford also moves on without setter Kami Miner and Elena Oglivie. What returns is unusually good for a team in transition — an All-American middle in Andrew, a setter in Parks who already ran the seventh-most efficient offense in the country as a freshman, and Etzler, a first-team All-ACC libero entering only her second year.
Three things to watch: September is the schedule's teeth, with Wisconsin, Kansas, Texas A&M, Penn State and a road trip to Pitt all before October; the Cal Poly weekend is a trap, three matches in four days against Arizona State, Santa Clara and Cal Poly between an East Coast trip and the ACC opener at SMU; and body clocks matter, with four matches tipping at 10 or 10:30 a.m. Pacific. Stanford hasn't reached a national semifinal since winning the 2019 title. The realistic ceiling is ending that drought; the floor, given the returning All-ACC core, is a national seed and a home regional.

Getting there: Caltrain to Palo Alto plus the free Marguerite shuttle is the least painful option on match nights; campus lots near Maples fill early on Friday dates.
